About the Event

Join us for an all-star in-depth ELECTION EVE look at Campaign 2020, also featuring Eleanor Clift and Alvin Falzenberg. President Trump is running like no one before, save himself in 2016. He’s turned Biden into the incumbent. Secondly, we’ll look at whether Mitch McConnell remains Senate Majority Leader—or Senator. He’s had his first worrisome race in decades against former pilot Amy McGrath. For dessert, we’ll tackle Trump’s threat to reject the election results and the dystopian nightmare that would follow.

A 20-year veteran of Time Magazine, its first woman columnist, and a panelist for 17 years on CNN's Capital Gang, Margaret Carlson started her journalism career after graduating George Washington Law School at the Legal Times, a halfway house for unhappy members of the DC Bar. She also worked at Bloomberg News and The New Republic. She has one daughter, one son-in-law, three grandchildren, and shares custody of one labradoodle with them. For better or worse, they all live in the swamp.

Steve Clemons is Editor at Large of The Hill, America's most read political media platform. For the previous nine years, Clemons served as Editor at Large of The Atlantic.  He is proprietor of the popular political blog, The Washington Note.  He also founded and serves as Senior Fellow of the American Strategy Program at the New America Foundation where he previously served as Executive Vice President.  Prior to this, Clemons served as Executive Vice President of the Economic Strategy Institute, was Senior Economic & International Affairs Advisor to Senator Jeff Bingaman, and was the founding Executive Director of the Nixon Center, now re-named the Center for the National Interest. He appears frequently as a political commentator across major news networks in the U.S. and around the world. He is also host of the popular weekly news show, The Bottom Line, that appears on the Al Jazeera English global network.

Clemons serves on the advisory boards of the C.V. Starr Center for the Study of the American Experience at Washington College, and of GLOBSEC, a European think tank focused on global economic and security affairs.

Eleanor Clift is a columnist for the Daily Beast, where she writes about politics and policy in Washington, and the partisan clashes that make governing almost impossible. Clift has covered every presidential campaign since 1976 and brings her perspective to analyze the dynamics between an unconventional president and his party, and an opposition party still licking its wounds over its loss in 2016. Clift is best known as a panelist on the syndicated talk show, The McLaughlin Group, which ended a 34-year run with the death of the host in 2016.

Presidential historian Alvin S. Felzenberg, is the author of The Leaders We Deserved (and a Few We Didn't): Rethinking the Presidential Rating Game. Also a political commentator and public official, Dr. Felzenberg served as the Principal Spokesman for the National Commission on Terrorist Attacks Upon the United States, also known as the 9/11 Commission. He is currently Director of Communications for the Joint Economic Committee for the United States Congress. Felzenberg was a fellow at the Institute of Politics at the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University, and he has lectured at Princeton, Yale, George Washington and Johns Hopkins Universities. In addition, he serves as a regular contributor to U.S. News and World Report and the National Review.
