About the Event

Did you know North America alone has lost more than 3 billion birds in the last 50 years? MARGO MCKNIGHT, President and CEO at Palm Beach Zoo & Conservation Society, is a biologist, conservationist and philanthropist who will highlight the plight of the swallow-tailed kite, an amazing and important “umbrella species” that depends upon Palm Beach County; the health of kites indicates the overall health of the ecosystem. Journey along with Margo and the kites on a 5,000-mile-long trip from Palm Beach to find their partner, raise their young and then, migrate back to South America. The Zoo partners with the Avian Research and Conservation Institute (ARCI) and Environmental Resources Management (ERM) to track Swallow-tailed kites using tiny solar backpacks funded by Zoo partner, Florida Power and Light Company (FPL).

This event is made possible through the generous support of Bank of America.
