About the Event

In the early days of television news, no one knew how Walter Cronkite voted.  He didn’t wear his politics on his sleeve. It was just the facts. Fast forward to now and ask yourself, is there any question how most of the reporters you see hosting TV news shows vote? What happened? How did TV news morph into “advocacy journalism” where reporters’ work is threaded with opinions, yes, their very own opinions? Now ask yourself, is that good for democracy?  The Coudert Institute is pleased to welcome GRETA VAN SUSTEREN for a probe of these important questions.

Greta Conway Van Susteren is an American commentator, lawyer, and former television news anchor for CNN, Fox News, and MSNBC. She spent about 7 years at CNN, hosting two shows, before moving over to Fox News Channel in 2002 where she anchored the prime time show ON THE RECORD WITH GRETA VAN SUSTEREN for 14 ½ years. ON THE RECORD WITH GRETA VAN SUSTEREN remained the highest rated cable news program in its prime-time slot for the entire 14 ½ years before her departure to MSNBC, where she hosted For the Record with Greta for roughly six months in 2017. Currently, Greta Van Susteren is the Host of Gray TV’s nationally syndicated Sunday political affairs program FULL COURT PRESS. Greta is also Chief National Political Analyst for Gray TV. Gray TV has more than 145 stations nationwide - from Alaska to Hawaii to Florida (and in between) covering 102 TV markets. She is also the anchor of Voice of America’s weekly television program “PLUGGED IN” about foreign police and US domestic affairs which broadcasts worldwide and is translated into many languages. A former criminal defense and civil trial lawyer, she appeared as a legal analyst on CNN co-hosting Burden of Proof with Roger Cossack from 1994 to 2002, playing defense attorney to Cossack's prosecutor. In 2016, she was listed as the 94th most powerful woman in the world by Forbes, up from 99th in 2015 of which Forbes Magazine named her 6 times as one of the 100 most powerful women in the world. Forbes discontinued the list in 2016.

Join us in the garden for cocktails, hors d'oeuvres and conversation!  And, keep current with Greta on all of the top issues through her national, weekly news show FULL COURT PRESS.
