SPEAKERS: Ann Rockefeller Roberts & Mary Louise Pierson
"Kykuit, the Rockefeller Family Home and Abby Rockefeller, founder of the Museum
of Modern Art”
The subject of the talk is about Abby Aldrich Rockefeller and her adventures as an art collector and founder of the Museum of Modern Art. And then the relationship between her and her son, Nelson Rockefeller (my grandfather), which carried Nelson into the same passion for the arts. He became one of the greatest contributors to the 20th century modern art movement as well as an advocate for the art of indigenous people. Not only was Abby Aldrich from a family that appreciated art, but so was John D. Jr, her husband ( my great-grandfather). This knowledge and exposure to different forms of art has greatly influenced many generations of my family.
I will be using my photographs to show a lot of the sculpture that is now placed throughout the Rockefeller Family Estate, as well as historical photos.
